FAQs

  • Do you accept insurance?

Yes. Your Way Therapy is in-network with Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Sentara, Optum, and TriCare (as a Certified Out-of-Network Provider). If you'd prefer not to use insurance, private-pay options are available, and we can provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement. We recommend verifying your coverage before your first appointment. Reduced self-pay rates may be available in limited circumstances — just ask during your consultation.

  • What states are you licensed in?

We provide telehealth therapy to clients located in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Texas, Illinois, and West Virginia. All sessions are conducted online, so you can meet from wherever is private and convenient for you within those states. We are based in Chesapeake, Virginia.

  • How much do sessions cost?

The initial 15-minute consultation is complimentary. Intake sessions (55 minutes) are $225, and regular sessions (55 minutes) are $200. Emergency sessions are $250. Cancellations less than 24 hours before the appointment are billed at $100. We keep our fees clear and upfront — no surprises.

  • What is the Gottman Method, and who is couples therapy for?

The Gottman Method is one of the most researched and respected approaches to couples therapy available today. Developed from decades of observational research, it identifies the patterns that lead to relationship breakdown and teaches specific skills to rebuild communication, trust, and connection. Jason is Level 3 trained in the Gottman Method. Couples therapy here is for partners dealing with repeated conflict, emotional distance, a breach of trust, or the slow drift that builds over time — whether the goal is repair, clarity, or both.

  • What can I expect at my first session?

Your first full session is an intake — a chance for Jason to understand what brought you in, what you're hoping to work on, and what's been happening beneath the surface. It's structured but unhurried. You won't be asked to relive everything at once. By the end, you'll have a clear sense of direction and what the work ahead looks like. If you'd like to talk first, the free 15-minute consultation is a no-pressure way to see if it's a good fit before you book.

  • If I pay privately, what stays off my record?

When you use insurance, your plan requires a mental-health diagnosis and your session dates on file to pay a claim — and that information lives with your insurer. Paying privately keeps all of that off the table: no claim is filed, no diagnosis is sent to a third party, and there's no outside record of your care. Your work stays between you and your therapist. You can also decide this session to session — nothing is locked in. (We can't speak to how any specific employer, agency, or process treats records — only to what private pay keeps us from creating.)
